Firstly, log in to WordPress.

Now go to the post or page on which the gallery is set. To find the page just click PAGES on the left hand side, you will see all the pages on your website (to find the post you click POSTS instead).

In the edit box you will see the images contained in the gallery, as below. Click on the ‘gallery’. Two icons will appear. Click the one that looks like a pencil, circled below.

Now you are ready to edit the gallery. You should be on a screen title ‘Edit Gallery’, looking similar to the one below.

Change the order of your gallery images

You can easily change the order of the images. Just click and hold an image/photo and drag it to where you want it.

Make sure you click the blue UPDATE GALLERY button (bottom right of the screen). Then click the blue UPDATE button on the actual page, to save the page and see the change on your site.

You will have to refresh the page on the front end of your website to see the change.

I advise you to resize and compress your images before you add them to your gallery. There is a post on resizing and compressing images here.

Once you have resized and compressed your images you will be ready to add them to your gallery. Make sure you know where they are saved.

Go to your page, and click the pencil to edit the gallery, as above.

Now click the ADD TO GALLERY link on the left hand side, as circled below.

You will be taken directly to your MEDIA LIBRARY. This is a library of all the images, photos, videos, PDFs and any other media that is included in your website. You may find things in here that are not on your site – I advise to delete unused files, but be careful! Check they are not on your site first.

I digress..

Click the UPLOAD FILES tab, then SELECT FILES in the centre of the screen, as below.

Select the files on your computer and click OPEN. You can select more than one using the SHIFT button or the CONTROL button.

The files will immediately start uploading to your media library. They will be highlighted in blue, with a tick in the corner. If you decide not to add one you can remove the tick.

Once you have the right images selected click the blue ADD TO GALLERY button, bottom right.

Drag the images to where you want them to sit in the gallery.

Make sure you click the blue UPDATE GALLERY button (bottom right of the screen). Then click the blue UPDATE button on the actual page, to save the page and see the change on your site.

You will have to refresh the page on the front end of your website to see the change.
